( President AIDA ) |

I, on behalf of the All India Distillers Association, extend our heartiest welcome to all the participants from all over the world who have gathered here to deliberate at the XVIIIth session of the International Symposium of Alcohol Fuels. Let me also wish all the honoured guests, participants, delegates and all others concerned with this important event a pleasant stay in New Delhi and wish them all success.
Increased consumption in the last several years of fossil fuels, oil, coal and natural gas has resulted in higher and higher carbonization of the atmosphere, and has thrown a challenge to the sustainable development of the world. This challenge is so serious that development of new energy technologies have become an absolutely must and it no longer remains an alternative. |
|
The All India Distillers Association(AIDA) , the national apex association of distillers all over India has been very closely engaged with the various State Pollution Control Organizations with a view to achieving abatement of pollution in the various distilleries spread all over the country. It is a matter of great satisfaction that majority of the member distilleries have succeeded in this effort. In the context of ever spiralling prices of petroleum products and the pressing need to control emission from hydro carbon fuels used in transportation, AIDA has taken up introduction of ethanol for blending with petrol to the extent of 5% to begin with. The Association is continuously engaged in further efforts to promote use of bio fuels in our effort to further contain environmental pollution and reduction in gaseous emission from hydrocarbons.
All of us agree that the issues of climate change and containment of environmental pollution are of vital importance for our very survival and the solutions to achieve these can not brook any further delay. In this context, exchange of ideas and workable alternatives are very important and essential and I am sure the deliberations at the forthcoming seminar will show us a way how to proceed in the matter of development of new energy technologies
The main theme of the XVIIIth ISAF is “Innovations for Local and Global Sustainability of Alcohol Fuels” and experts who have taken deep interest in the subject are participating in the forthcoming event. I am confident that the discussions on the topics of international importance will provide a clear road map to everyone who is interested and engaged in such activities on alcohol fuels all over the world.
I take this opportunity to appeal to all interested and engaged in alcohol fuels to attend this important event and enrich our discussions on this important topic. I am confident that your deliberations at this prestigious international symposium will go a long way in guiding the policy makers and strategists in the respective countries to achieve a break through in augmenting bio fuels from various organic sources.
Last, but not the least, I convey my best wishes for the success of the symposium and to the organizers of the XVIIIth ISAF.
